Nick Vujicic : No arms, no legs, no worries.

Nick Vujicic was born 30 years ago with no arms and no legs. He resides in California with his wife, KanaeI. His story must have positive impact on our life, as he is able to do things that we can’t, as we are busy complaining and not accepting the life as it is.

Nick was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia. It was a shock to his parents when he was born without limbs. His parents did their best to keep him in the mainstream school and give him every opportunity to live to the fullest.

At the age of eight, Nick could not see a bright future ahead and got through the depression. When he was ten years old, he decided to end his life by drowning himself in a bathtub. After a couple attempts, he realized that he did not want his loved ones to feel the burden and guilt, that would result from his suicide.

At the age of thirteen he hurt his foot, which he used for many things like typing, writing, and swimming. That injury made him realize that he need to be more thankful for his abilities and less focused on his disabilities.

Whoever you are, wherever you’re from, and whatever you are dealing with, I hope that you will be inspired by my story and my message. Dream big my friend and never give up. When he was fifteen years old, he sealed his faith on God and from there it has been an amazing journey. When he was seventeen, a janitor at his high school inspired him to start speaking about his faith and overcoming adversity. He worked with a speaking coach who helped to cultivate him as a presenter. He especially worked on his body language as his hands flew everywhere at first!

He spoke on motivational topics after creating the company, “Attitude is Altitude”. He also launched a non-profit ministry, life without limbs, to spread the message of faith and hope around the world.

NATIONAL EDUCATION DAY AND THE FUTURE OF INDONESIAN EDUCATION

Today May 2, 2017 Indonesia is celebrating National Education Day which coincides with the birthday of Raden Mas Suwardi Suryaningrat or better known as Ki Hadjar Dewantara, the father of national education in Indonesia.

Ki Hajar Devantoro who was born in Yogyakarta, May 2, 1889 and died in Yogyakarta, 26 April 1959 is known for his daring opposition against the Dutch colonial  government education policy then.  At that time,  only  children of Dutch origin, nobility and rich people were allowed to  get proper education at school.

His criticism of the colonial policies caused him to be exiled to the Netherlands. After returning to Indonesia after some time he went on to establish an educational institution that is open to anyone named Taman Siswa. 

Indonesia's current state of education of  course  is different from those in the Dutch colonial period. In that era learning opportunities were still very limited. Only those who come from upper families who could get an education. And with a limited level of education as well. 

After the proclamation of Indonesian  independence, the state of education was much better even though  with makeshift facility. Learning opportunities are now  open to everyone, although due to the high cost, access to education to a higher level is   still limited.

Education is important for everyone to become a better human being. It has become the government concern since the era of the first President Sukarno to the current  era of President Joko Widodo.

Since 1984, precisely during  the time  of Minister of Education Nugroho Notosusanto, 9-year compulsory education has been set. But at that time education can not be enjoyed by all children of Indonesia. The reason is  Indonesia local economy often  not sufficient to be able to complete an education. As a matter of  fact, the real education for the Indonesian nation is a commitment between the Government and the public, as stipulated in the 1945 Constitution that the objective of the state is the nation's intellectual life.

In a speech to commemorate the 2016 National Education Day, Minister of Education and Culture, Anies Baswedan said National Education Day is celebrated as a day of awareness about the importance of human qualities. Indonesia will be the world respected nation and successful in a variety of global competition if it has people with high quality.

Indeed, the limited educational facilities do not automatically hamper Indonesia to have persons  with a high quality. Many children from remote areas with limited facilities and infrastructure, have been able to achieve a better performance than children who live in urban areas with luxurious amenities and convenience.

It all depends on the individual, family and government. They need to fight and support from various parties towards national quality education amid intense competition and rapid technological advances that could be positive and negative.

Happy National Education Day. Hopefully education in Indonesia will get better and advance towards a better human quality.

• 3 cups flour
• 4 teaspoons baking powder
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1 cup butter, softened

• Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple food coloring

Then, mix the dry ingredients (the flour, baking powder, and salt).
After that, combine the wet ingredients (butter, sugar, egg, vanilla, milk).
Then, stir in the flour mixture.
Next, divide and dye the batter.
Then, pour the batter into greased cake pans.
Last, bake the layers.

Part 2: Assembling the Cake

First, make the frosting.
After that, get the layers ready.
Then, frost the layers.
Next, frost the assembled cake.
Last, decorate the cake.

Part 3: Making a Rainbow Swirl Cake

First, preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
